In short: Cyclorama has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your rides and progress stay on your device. We only receive what you choose to send us by email or through the beta sign-up form, and crash reports if you switch them on.
Cyclorama is made by Ionuț Mocanu, an individual developer based in Romania (“we”, “us”). We are the controller of the little personal data described below. Contact: [email protected], or by post at Calea Călărașilor 303, 810288 Brăila, Romania.
The app keeps these on your phone or tablet only. We cannot see them.
Uninstalling the app deletes all of it. Moments are read aloud by your device's own text-to-speech voice; we send nothing for that.
When you start “Watch on TV” during a ride, Cyclorama makes a temporary display available to your TV's web browser on the same local network. It shares the current historical moment, ride date, speed, distance, time and ride status. The address grants access to this display until sharing stops; share it only with people you want to see it. The connection uses local HTTP, without encryption. It does not send your sensor's name or address, bookmarks or ride log, and nothing is sent to us. The temporary server keeps no access logs. Sharing stops when you stop it, leave the ride, lock your device or put Cyclorama in the background. Narration stays on your phone or tablet.
“Report a problem” and, in test versions, “Send beta feedback” open an email in your own mail app, filled in with:
You see the email before you send it and can change or delete anything in it. We use it only to answer you and to fix and improve Cyclorama, on the basis of our legitimate interest in doing so (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). We keep these emails until the matter is resolved and for at most 24 months, then delete them. Our email is hosted by Google (Google Workspace); messages to our address reach it through Cloudflare Email Routing.
If you sign up for the beta on ridecyclorama.com, we store the email address you enter, the devices you picked, your sensor type if you chose one, and when you signed up. We do not store your IP address. We use this only to invite you to test versions of Cyclorama (through Apple TestFlight or Google Play testing, which need your email address) and to email you about the beta, on the basis of your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time by writing to [email protected], and we delete your sign-up. The sign-ups are stored by Cloudflare, which hosts our website. We delete them when the beta ends, and at most 12 months after you signed up.
In the versions from the App Store and Google Play, Settings has a switch, “Send crash reports”. It is off until you turn it on. When it is on and the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, the app sends a report to Sentry, the service we use to find and fix crashes. A report contains:
It never contains your name, email address, location, rides, progress, settings, or your sensors' names or addresses. Sentry sees your device's IP address when a report arrives, as with any connection; we have set it not to store it.
Sentry (Functional Software, Inc., USA) processes the reports for us, under its data processing terms with the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, and stores them in its EU region, in Germany. Reports are deleted after 30 days. We use them only to fix Cyclorama, on the basis of your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)); turn the switch off at any time and nothing more is sent. Test versions and development builds never send crash reports.
About once a day, when you are online, the app asks our server whether there are corrected or new eras, and downloads them. Like any web request, this shows the server your device's IP address and that a copy of Cyclorama asked; the app sends nothing else, no identifier, progress or settings. The server is run by [hosting provider, e.g. Cloudflare], which keeps request logs for [log retention]. We use them only to keep the service working (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
Cyclorama is free at present. If we later sell routes in the app, payment is handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play; we receive no card or payment details, only the stores' confirmation that a purchase was made.
Settings › About and sources links to the Wikipedia articles the history comes from. Opening one takes you to Wikipedia in your browser, under the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy.
Cyclorama is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly receive personal data from them. If a child has emailed us, ask us and we will delete it.
For anything we hold about you (in practice, emails you sent and your beta sign-up), you may ask for a copy, correction or deletion, object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict it, by writing to [email protected]. We answer within one month. You can also complain to Romania's data protection authority, ANSPDCP (dataprotection.ro), or the authority where you live.
When this policy changes, we update the date above and describe the change in the app's release notes. A change that uses your data in a new way will ask for your agreement first.
